Set in a magnificent Georgian building, the Liverpool School of English is a large, independent school which, like the city of Liverpool, is proud of its welcoming atmosphere. Facilities include 26 fully equipped classrooms, most of which have interactive whiteboards, a common room, 2 study centres, a café with free Wi-Fi access, a fully stocked library with books, CDs and DVDs and a lovely garden with a patio area.

LSE has provided language teacher training since 1999. The school’s teacher trainers are all DELTA/Masters qualified and practising teachers, up to date with the latest developments in language teaching. As a busy language school, LSE has extensive experience with students from all over the world.

The school is located near the centre of the city, close to two train stations and universities such as Liverpool John Moores. The famous UNESCO world heritage waterfront of the River Mersey is a short walk away with cafes, restaurants and free museums including Tate Liverpool.

Host family
One of the best ways to immerse yourself in English culture is to stay with a host family. This will encourage you to practise your English daily outside the classroom in a relaxed, motivating environment. Host families are carefully selected by the school and generally live around 20-30 minutes from the language school by public transport. You will stay in a single room with half-board.

The Arch residence (from 18 years)
Located in the Liverpool city centre, 10 minutes’ walk from the language school, this residence perfectly combines the old with the new, offering brand new facilities in a stunning 19th-century building. You will stay in a stylish single room fitted with a private bathroom, desk and storage space. The kitchen facilities are shared with the other residents. On the ground floor, relax in the bright lounge area with its flat-screen TV or play a game of table football or snooker with your flatmates from all over the world. A laundry room is available on-site and you can enjoy free Wi-Fi throughout the residence.

Liverpool has something for everyone. The UNESCO-listed waterfront is home to the beautiful Albert Dock, as well as some of the UK’s greatest museums including Tate Liverpool, The Walker Art Gallery, Sudley House and the International Slavery Museum. Music fans are extremely well catered for in the hometown of the Beatles: the area around Mathew Street is a magnet for local and international students, while the city centre is very lively at night. In the beautiful countryside surrounding Liverpool, you can also enjoy some of Britain’s finest golf courses and spectacular beaches looking out over the Irish Sea.
