We select partner language schools according to strict criteria – high-quality facilities, small class sizes at a range of levels, great location, first-class teaching and an exciting activities program, among other aspects. We regularly visit partner schools as it is very important for us to maintain a strong relationship with our partners and to keep up with local developments.
We systematically gather opinions and reviews from thousands of students who chose ESL to go abroad. All reviews are thoroughly checked to ensure authenticity and are added to our school pages so as to provide future students with first-hand details and facts.
Our portfolio also includes a large variety of accommodation types, so we can offer each one of our students the most suitable option. From homestays and student residences to private and shared apartments, all our accommodation types are carefully selected for a comfortable and convenient experience abroad.
Learning a language in your home country is a great way to learn the theory and technical aspects of a language, but there is so much more to a language than this! By studying abroad, you’ll also use your target language in your day-to-day life, in real-world situations, letting you cross the barrier from being a good student to being a good speaker.
When you study a language with ESL, you’ll be constantly immersed in your target language both inside the classroom and after through specially planned activities and trips.
What is the cost of studying a language abroad?
A common misconception for any aspiring language student is that learning a language abroad needs to be expensive. The reality is that there are plenty of options for students to choose from which can be adapted to a variety of budgets. When you choose ESL, you can choose the length, location, and supplements of your course, as well as a wide range of accommodation options to make your adventure as affordable or as luxurious as you want.
Which language is the best to learn abroad?
The best language for you to learn is the one that benefits your personal or professional life best – there is no right or wrong answer! ESL’s expert team of advisors will get to know you and match you with the language and destination that fits your situation, goals, and preferences.
For example, if you’re looking to work in an international company, English could be your perfect option. If you want to take advantage of the excellent German education system, a German Exam Preparation course will help you get there. If you’re a huge fan of K-pop and want to learn more about your favourite songs – you can immerse yourself in both the culture and language by learning Korean in Korea. With 16 languages and over 200 destinations in our portfolio, you’ll be able to choose the language that’s best for you through ESL.
Which is the most popular destination?
Each of our destinations has something to offer students, whether it be a unique culture, pleasant weather, interesting cities, gorgeous nature – or all of the above! But some destinations are so iconic that they attract a huge number of students each year. Our most popular destination is England – as the birthplace of our most popular language, and home to one of the most recognisable cities in the world, London, it’s not a surprise that students want to travel there. Some of our other most popular destinations include France, Germany, Spain and Japan.
How can I maximise my learning experience when studying a language abroad?
Learning a language is different to learning any other classroom subject, in the sense that most of your learning happens outside of the classroom! When you learn a language, the best way to maximise your results is to embrace the culture that surrounds it, and continue to use and practise it in your day to day life. When you study with ESL, you’ll be given several opportunities to immerse yourself in your target language outside the classroom. Whether it’s through one of the cultural activities organised by our partner schools, or socialising with your local hosts through ESL’s network of host families.
How long should I plan to study a language abroad to make significant progress?
Each language student learns at their own pace, but one thing remains consistent: more study time abroad means more significant results. For that reason, we recommend our gap year programmes, which span for at least two months, to make the most progress while exploring at your own pace. Alternatively, if you’re short on time, you can opt for an intensive course, which will give you the most classroom hours in a shorter course.
