Do you think you've made progress?

I really like the school because the teachers are very good and there are people from a lot of different nationalities. The curriculum is great because we have a lot of fun learning. It’s not boring and we don’t just read books. We learn by playing games and all the students participate in group assignments. It’s not too strict and the learning environment is exciting and energetic. Hawai is awesome, we can learn in a very nice atmosphere and we can do a lot of activities like surfing, tennis or going to the beach. The school activities program is also really good. The school is very well located, close to shops, bars, restaurants and beaches.

It was one of the most beautiful experiences in my life. I would never have thought I would travel alone abroad, so far away, to Hawaii. I was so scared.

But sometimes in life, unexpected things happen. And a unique opportunity arose. I was given the possibility to discover Honolulu, swim in Waikiki Beach and observe surfers. I visited heavenly beaches such as Lanikai, I danced traditional Hula, I participated in barbecue parties on the beach together with my new friends, I went to big Island, I tasted the wonderful Kona Café and I could try the famous Macadamia nuts coated with chocolate.

I could touch a dolphin at Sea Life Park. Watch beautiful sunsets. It was simply amazing! Lazying on the beach and admiring nature’s splendour is really breathtaking.

I can only say positive things about the school. It was very well located and my teacher Tad taught me not to be scared when speaking English in public. Thanks to her kindness and patience, she immediately made us feel comfortable.

Since I opted for a destination far from Spain, I was the only Spanish student at the school. So I could speak English all the time. My classmates were from Korea, Japan or Switzerland. I loved spending time with them, I learnt a lot about their cultures. I was glad I could meet so many lovely people.

As regards accommodation, I opted for a hotel in Waikiki, the Ohana West, and a single room with kitchenette. This was exactly what I wanted. Since there were other participants staying at the hotel, I could spend unforgettable moments with them. I could taste specialties cooked by my Swiss friends and accompany them to commercial centres.

The only thing I regret is not staying longer.

I recommend this experience to anyone, whether you are 20 or 40. It is never too late to learn!

ICC, Honolulu

When people hear the word Hawaii, everybody thinks about things like Aloha, Houla dance, beaches, surf, Hawaii toast or bear. The reality is, Hawaii has much more to offer than that: it’s nice and multicultural to start with, but also has numerous beaches and incredible nature. I would have never thought that a language study trip would leave me such an impression. I can say that to date, this has been the best experience in my life. I was hosted, together with other students, by an amazing host family. They took me in as part of their family and I enjoyed the warm atmosphere. For me, ICC became like a continuation of my Hawaiian family. With time, all the students knew each other and teachers always did everything possible to make the learning atmosphere enjoyable. From time to time, we did weekend excursions to other islands. Hawaii has really a lot to offer in terms of activities and it is impossible to get bored. In another life, I would do exactly the same thing, except for the military service that I would do before travelling to Hawaii. That way, I could stay here for as long as I wish. Aloha!

Host family
Staying with a host family is without a doubt the best way of learning English and immersing yourself in Hawaiian culture. All of the host families are selected with care by our partner school in order to make you feel at home and practise your English daily with total confidence. Living around 45-60 minutes from the school, you'll stay in a single room with half-board provided.

Aloha Drive student house (minimum 4 weeks)
Just a stone’s throw from Waikiki Beach, this is a fantastic option for students wishing to stay in a social environment – plus it’s got space to store your surfboards and bicycles! Stay in a single or double room (with bunk beds or a double bed, for students travelling together) in a 3-bedroom apartment. The common areas you’ll share with your flatmates include a living room, kitchen and two bathrooms. The school is an easy 15-minute bus ride away or 25 minutes on foot. Free Wi-Fi and onsite laundry facilities are also included.

Island Colony Suites studios (minimum 4 weeks)
These comfortable studios are the perfect option if you want some independence during your stay in Hawaii. On the 7th floor of a modern building, you'll be surrounded by options for nightlife, shops and restaurants. Every studio has Wi-Fi, air conditioning and a TV. Bed linen and towels are provided.

The world’s most beautiful beaches, perfect waves, palm trees, crystal clear water and the gentle trade winds… a trip to Hawaii is a journey to paradise! Honolulu, or “sheltered harbour” in Hawaiian, hasn’t lost one bit of its charm in spite of being a tourist hotspot. The wonderful Ala Moana Beach, just a stone’s throw from the school, is a local favourite and much quieter than nearby Waikiki. The school organises exciting activities like surfing, beach volleyball and hikes to the inactive volcanoes and massive waterfalls, while the bravest students can even try swimming with sharks or dolphins! Weekends are perfect for exploring the island by bus. Here in Oahu, you’ll find lush valleys and sunny cliffs and coves that will take your breath away… the perfect opportunity to take pictures and make memories!
