Our partner school is located in a new, entirely renovated building right in the centre of Vienna. You will enjoy excellent learning conditions in a school with stellar facilities including air conditioning. The classrooms are spacious and comfortable. Students also have access to a multimedia centre with internet access, Wi-Fi and a library to use between classes or on breaks. After class, you can relax and chat with your new friends in the school’s common areas or in the cafeteria. During high season, extra premises are used, which are located right next to the main school building. The school is close to all of the main public transport lines and historical monuments.

Do you think you've made progress?

Actilingua, Vienna
Duration: 6 weeks

I don’t know if you've heard stories about Vienna, but they’re probably true. Before I left I heard stories about a city with culture, museums and a rich history. Now after a few weeks Vienna I must say that I didn’t have enough time. There’s so much to do in Vienna. If you like shopping, there are big shopping malls. If you like museums, there are more than 100. I think there are more pubs than museums, where you can eat a cake or drink beer. There’s so much to do. We have lessons in groups of about 10-12 students. Every week you will learn more about a subject, last week for example it was "Relativsätze". At the end of the week you take a test, so the school can see if you understand everything well. The school is small and you will get to know a lot of people during excursions. This is very useful, because you can speak German with them. That helped me a lot while I was learning the language. You also get to know a lot of different cultures. To improve my German, I talk a lot with my host family.

Actilingua, Vienna
Duration: 16 weeks

I have been living in Vienna for nearly four months and my stay is drawing to an end... what a shame! I decided to travel to Austria rather than Germany because it is a country I didn’t know and which, I must say, intrigued me a lot. I don’t regret my choice at all; Vienna is not only a place with great culture (operas, museums, Hundertwasser house, etc.) but also a city where the Wiener dialect and the warmth of the locals keep you under the spell. I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else in the world than in this capital. In a matter of three months and a half, I have not only improved my German - much more than I have during all my school years -, but I have also met people I will never forget. Thanks to them, I was able to visit Hungary, Poland and Slovakia, which are not as far away as I thought. I would add that the teachers (all young, between 23 and 35 years) always give us advice about the best restaurants, bars and clubs in town. In short, this is an experience I will never forget.

I spent two months in Vienna to learn German. It was the first time I went to Vienna. This city, its old buildings, is so beautiful! My host family gave me a very warm welcome. The classes at the school fitted my language level perfectly. I met a lot of people from other countries, I admired the horses from the Spanish riding school and I visited the Belvedere. And once again I made new friends. For all these reasons, I can say that this trip was a very good experience. I will certainly make a second trip to Vienna.

Host family
One of the best ways to gain insight into the Viennese and Austrian culture in general is to opt for accommodation with a host family during your stay in Vienna. In this way, you will be able to practise your German daily in an authentic, relaxed atmosphere. The host families are carefully selected and generally live within 40 minutes of the school by public transport. You will stay in a double or single room with half-board or breakfast only provided.

Shared apartment
Students who wish to have more independence and interact with other international students during their stay also have the option of staying in a shared apartment, which is located around 25-40 minutes from the language school. There are an average of 2 bedrooms per apartment and students stay in a double or single room without meals included. You will share a bathroom, kitchen and dining room with your flatmates.

Actilingua residence
Actilingua acquired its own residence at the end of 2006. Located in the 11th Bezirk (district), around 10 minutes from the school by public transport and close to the Gasometer Shopping Centre, it has been entirely renovated in the Jugendstil, typical of Vienna. You can choose between a "Standard" or "Superior" apartment, both of which come with a TV, radio and free Wi-Fi. With the "Standard" option, you will stay in an apartment of 60-75 m2, sharing with other international students. Staying in a double or single room, you will share the kitchen, bathroom and toilet. A cleaning service is carried out twice a week and bed linen is provided. If you opt for the "Superior" option, you will stay in your own apartment of 30-40 m2 with a private bathroom and toilet. The apartments are cleaned from Monday to Friday and bed linen and bath towels are provided.
