This language school is located on the 9th floor of a modern building in the vibrant centre of Kobe, just steps from the entertainment district, Chinatown, the harbour and the main shopping area. The school has eight spacious classrooms, four language labs and a student lounge offering views of Kobe harbour. Kobe est une ville agréable à découvrir: montagnes, mer, Harborland, magasins, Chinatown, ... En été, Kobe est particulièrement agréable pour le temps: il y fait plus "frais" que dans les autres villes grâce à la mer et les montagnes (30°C au lieu de 38°C dans d'autres villes comme Kyoto ou Tokyo!)Kobe est également proche d'Osaka et de Kyoto, ainsi que de Himeji, idéal donc pour les escapades le week-end! Concernant l'école Lexis Japan, j'ai beaucoup apprécié l'enseignement: même en étant "part time student", j'ai beaucoup appris. D'après ce que j'ai entendu d'autres étudiants à Lexis, les cours de l'après-midi ne sont pas toujours nécessaires, ce sont surtout les cours du matin qui comptent, je suis donc contente de n'avoir pris que les cours du matin.Un point sur lequel j'ai été très surprise, comme beaucoup d'étudiants avec qui j'en ai discuté là-bas, c'est le fait que, lorsque je suis arrivée, je n'ai pas pu démarrer exactement à mon niveau. Il est dit que l'on peut arriver à n'importe quelle semaine et que l'on peut démarrer à son niveau, mais ce n'est pas tout-à-fait vrai ... L'école démarre un niveau (A1, A2, A2-B1, ...) uniquement en début de chaque mois. J'aurais aimé connaître cette information avant mon départ, car je serais alors partie 1 semaine plus tard pour pouvoir démarrer à mon niveau. Je suis arrivée la 3ème du mois de juillet et d'après leur test j'avais un niveau "A2 semaine 1", mais Lexis Japan ne pouvait me proposer que "A2 semaine 3" (trop au-dessus de mon niveau) ou "A1 semaine 3" (en-dessous de mon niveau). On m'a donc placée en "A1 semaine 3", j'ai donc perdu un peu plus d'1 semaine où je n'ai pas appris grand chose (sur mes 3 semaines de cours, plus d'1 semaine de perdue ça fait beaucoup ...). Donc voilà, à l'avenir ce serait bien de prévenir les futurs étudiants, car beaucoup étaient surpris, surtout lorsque ce sont des cours séjours ... (j'ai rencontré une étudiante belge qui n'était là que pour 1 semaine à Lexis Japan Kobe, et sa semaine n'a servi à rien car elle n'a pas pu être placée à son niveau).Apparement, à Lexis Korea (Seoul) il est possible d'arriver à n'importe quelle semaine et de démarrer à son niveau, mais pas pour Lexis Japan (Kobe). A chaque nouvelle structure de phrase apprise, on l'applique directement en parlant avec les autres étudiants. J'ai beaucoup apprécié le fait de parler autant en classe, cela permet un meilleur entraînement et une meilleure mémorisation! Les enseignants sont très dynamiques. Le rythme peut parfois paraître un peu rapide, il faut faire attention à pouvoir étudier chaque jour pour pouvoir suivre le rythme. Ma famille d'accueil, une mère et sa fille, ont été adorables avec moi. Ma mère d'accueil était très présente pour moi: elle me déposait à la gare, me cuisinait de super plats et n'hésitait pas à m'emmener visiter des endroits. Ma famille m'incluait beaucoup dans leur vie quotidienne, j'en ai été très heureuse! Nous resterons en contact! Les activités proposées étaient sympathiques. J'aurais cependant souhaité que l'école propose d'avantage d'excursions hors de la ville de Kobe, comme des visites à Osaka, Kyoto, ou encore Himeji. Heureusement, sur place, j'ai rencontré des gens motivés pour visiter ces villes, nous avons donc improvisé nous-même les excursions.

Kobe war sehr schön, allerdings etwas schwül und sehr warm. In der Schule war es sehr kalt, viele wurden krank.NIchtsdestotrotz hat es sehr Spass gemacht. DIe Schule ist gut gelegen, die Stadt an sich auch, da man gut nach Nara, Himeji, Kyoto, Osaka kommt. Wirklich toll. Nachmittagsunterricht meist etwas schäbig, zwei Stunden meist Intonation oder Geographiestunde. Danach immer Gil Time, in der man die Hausaufgaben selber erledigen kann. EIne ganze Stunde! Ich finde es ein wenig Zeitverschwendung, da man das zuhause auch erledigen und am nächsten Tag Fragen stellen könnte. Ich überlege mir nächstes Jahr, Standardkurs zu belegen, da sich der Nachmittagsunterricht für den meisten nicht gelohnt hat. Manche Lehrkräfte hatten kein Durchsetzungsvermögen, waren etwas schwach angesichts der grossen Klassen. Sie taten mir etwas Leid. Vielleicht könnte man die Klassen etwas verkleinern. Danke ESL.

Kobe è una città da 1 milione e mezzo di abitanti. ciononostante non si sente per nulla come una città caotica. Il Giappone che dire: nonostante i suoi mille difetti è un paese molto bello. Dal punto di vista della qualità sono rimasto molto deluso dalla scuola. Ti viene detto che "questa è una scuola di conversazione" e con questa scusa ti mettono in delle classi facili a dir poco imbarazzanti. Capisco che il mio giapponese parlato non sia il massimo, ma non potete mettermi a fare una grammatica di livello elementare che conosco già completamente. Come posso migliorare se a scuola mi vengono insegnati gli stessi vocaboli, la stessa grammatica, e gli stessi kanji che già conosco. Sicuramente non imparo conversando col mio vicino di banco sul mio "cibo preferito in Italia". Si sfiora il ridicolo. La mia famiglia era stupenda. Eiko san è veramente una persona gentile e di cuore. La casa sempre meticolosamente pulita e il cibo a dir poco succulento.

I really enjoyed my stay in Japan. The family was great, a couple of friendly pensioners who were always in a good mood. They also hosted an American student, who was very friendly too. However, the distance to the school was quite long, I found: there was a 30-minute metro journey and then I had to walk for 10 minutes to reach the school. I liked the school but the classes were a bit difficult for me since I had no prior knowledge of Japanese, so I would recommend future students to learn some bases before they arrive. The teachers took care of the whole class and went out of their way to help us. There weren’t many students, but the atmosphere was great. Although well located in town, the school isn’t easy to find, so new students, including me, easily get lost in the first days. The city of Kobe is a very pleasant town and a fairly quiet one compared to other Japanese cities. The locals are warmer, ready to help you if you need it (to find your way, for example). The city is not overcrowded and there’s always space in the metro. Kobe is located between the mountains and the sea, so it offers activities for every taste. Kyoto and Osaka are not far away, with many things to do and see as well. Many Japanese festivals take place during the summer. Still, there was one negative point, the return: there was no escort service to the airport and I went to the wrong airport; I only just caught my flight.

I was very happy with my month in Kobe. Courses at Lexis are excellent and adapted to different levels. The staff was very good at supervising. As Japanese classes were only in the morning, I had time to visit Kobe’s hotspots in the afternoon, such as the port and the Nunobiki waterfalls. Osaka is easy to reach; it takes only 25 minutes by train. I had lots of fun and made many friends, with whom I could visit a big part of Japan!

Located within 30-40 minutes of the school by public transport, the families provide half-board and full immersion in the Japanese language and culture. Staying with a carefully selected local host is an authentic way for you to practise Japanese seven days a week, in the context of everyday life. You are guaranteed to make rapid progress!

J&F student house (minimum 4 weeks)
If you’re looking for a social living option, this is it! You’ll stay in a private room complete with a mini-fridge, desk, chair, air conditioning and wired internet. Bedding packs are available for purchase, but you’ll have to bring your own towels. Free Wi-Fi is available in the common areas, which include a shared kitchen, a dining area and a theatre room with sofas and a big projector to watch movies. The nearest public transport station is just over 10 minutes away on foot, and it will take you to school in a 20-minute train ride (door-to-door: about 45 minutes).

This student house, located 13 minutes from the school by public transport, offers small studios with shared bathrooms and kitchens, along with a TV room and communal lounges. This student house, located 13 minutes from the school by public transport, offers small studios with shared bathrooms and kitchens, along with a TV room and communal lounges. It is spread over three floors of a modern building equipped with Wi-Fi in the ground-floor common areas. There is a floor reserved for women only.

Kobe has an excellent public transport network: efficient and inexpensive trains, metros and buses can get you anywhere in and around the city. The impressive port is a popular place to stroll, admire the big ships or take a boat trip around the bay. Be sure to visit the Sannomiya district, a shopping paradise and nightlife hotspot. In the sunshine, Suma beach is a dream of white sand lined with trees, and its marine aquarium is one of the largest in the country. If you like mountains, climb to the top of Mount Rokko, the highest peak in the chain, and enjoy breathtaking panoramic views. This is a great starting point for hikes throughout beautiful Setonaikai National Park. For a change of scenery, visit Arima Onsen, the oldest thermal spa in Japan, which is located on the opposite side of Mount Rokko.
