Genki Japanese and Culture School

The best way to fully immerse in your new language is to live with a local family and experience the culture for yourself. All our host families are no more than 75 minutes from the school by public transport (an average of 45 minutes). You’ll be placed in a single room with bed linen provided—you should bring your own towels. Wi-Fi is generally available but cannot be guaranteed, while students can use the laundry room free of charge. Every day you’ll get a typical home-made breakfast and dinner from your hosts. Overall, this option is perfect for you to get the best of your new home, and completely immerse in the local culture. 

For students who value their privacy above all else, our partner school offers your very own private apartment in the centre of Naha City, with great transport links, between 30 and 60 minutes from the school via public transport. Each unit houses only one student and comes furnished with a bed, table or desk, chair, and a small, equipped kitchen; however, towels are not provided (bed linen is included). Wifi is available, but sometimes only via LAN. A laundry room is available and is usually free to use. There is no cleaning service provided and no meals included, so students will need to prepare their own food. Overall, this option is great for anyone wanting to have a comfortable stay in Okinawa.
