Do you think you've made progress?

Babilonia, Taormina
Duration: 12 weeks

My 10-week language course at the Babilonia language school in Taormina allowed me to improve my Italian in a truly magical setting. When the weather is nice, the classes take place in a beautiful garden lined with flowers. During breaks, small loudspeakers hidden at the foot of the palm trees play a relaxing music. The learning activities are varied and original and encourage us to use the language in speaking and writing. In addition to the classes, the school offers seminars on various topics, film viewings and concerts. I also discovered many places in Sicily thanks to the excursions organised by the school every Saturday (hike on Mount Etna or Vulcano, visit of one of the Aeolian islands, visit of cities like Syracuse, Noto, Modica, Ragusa…) Finally, living in Taormina is very pleasant as the inhabitants are friendly and give you a very warm welcome!

Babilonia, Taormina
Duration: 1 week

My experience in Taormina was unforgettable. It’s a really beautiful place and, despite it being small, it’s very charming and has many cultural activities to offer. There are quite a few villages within easy reach, which are perfect to go spend a day. The Greek theatre with the Etna in the background is amazing, a must – plus, Babilonia students get in for free.

The school is located in the centre of Taormina and it has a beautiful garden where you can sit and chat with your colleagues, drink a cup of coffee or read a book. The groups are small and the teaching is dynamic and fun.

What I liked the most was the chance to study Italian just 10 minutes away from the beach, which is the perfect combination for a holiday course!

Host family
Staying with a local host, you’ll be provided with a single room with breakfast, half-board or full-board. This is the ideal option if you wish to immerse yourself in Sicilian culture from the beginning to the end of your stay! Sharing meals and everyday life with Sicilians is a superb way to continue using your language skills outside of class while getting a real taste of local life.

Apartment (from 18 years)
There are several apartments (shared or private) available in the town of Taormina. In the shared apartments, there is a kitchen and bathroom to be shared by the students, and the bedrooms are singles (or doubles for two people travelling together). This is a good choice if you want more independence during your time in Sicily.

The school offers many extracurricular activities that will allow you to meet other students while enjoying the best of Sicily. The programme includes film screenings, games and seminars (Italian literature, Sicilian culture, etc.). Every weekend and some afternoons, excursions are organised to local spots that are off the tourist trail. You will also be invited to cultural activities such as dinners, concerts and plays, and there are tennis courts and fitness centres for sporty types. If you want to go shopping, you will enjoy discounts with the student card that the school gives you on arrival.
