This is the perfect option if you wish to share the daily life of an Irish family and discover their traditions. All host families are located in Galway’s best neighbourhoods: some are within a short walk of the school, some are a short journey away by bus, and others are a maximum of 30-40 minutes away by bus. Full board (breakfast, packed lunch and evening meal) is provided. Students stay in twin or triple rooms, with students of another nationality. Sharing a bedroom with a sibling or friend is also possible on request.
Please note: this accommodation option is best suited to independent students who will be able to get to the school on their own using public transport.
Located less than 5 minutes’ walk from the school building, the residence is divided into several apartments, which accommodate 4-5 students on average in twin or single bedrooms. All apartments include two bathrooms, a TV lounge and free Wi-Fi. Students also have access to a launderette and a small shop. The bedrooms and bathrooms are cleaned on a regular basis. This accommodation includes full board. All meals are served in the school canteen, except on excursion days when packed lunches are provided. The camp leaders stay on-site and ensure the safety of students on a 24-hour basis.
The school staff organise and supervise group activities four evenings per week. There will be cultural workshops (Irish dancing and music), a treasure hunt in the city, typical Irish sports like hurling or gaelic football, and you will even attend a greyhound race. With disco parties, movie nights, karaoke and talent shows organised by the school, you will have countless opportunities to enjoy yourself and practise English with your new friends. Your weekends will be busy too, with one weekly full-day excursion to Dublin, the Cliffs of Moher, Connemara or Bunratty Castle. Every week, one afternoon and the Sunday are free: take advantage of these moments to spend time with your new friends, revise your English lessons or take part in the optional Sunday activity (additional cost, at preferential rates).
