South Main is home to some of Vancouver’s most innovative fashion boutiques, especially between 19th and 23rd Avenues. Gastown is also great for smaller shops, including clothes shops. The district is home to a Fluevog shoe store (at 65 Water Street)... although the bigger store at 837 Granville Street is something to behold. For high fashion head to Robson Street, home to a number of flagship shops.
For another kind of shopping experience, the markets and shops of Granville Island are always popular. If the shopping gets too much, it’s a lovely place to relax and have a coffee too. Chinatown and Punjabi Market offer something completely different and the Chinatown evening markets during the summer months are particularly fun.
For native artwork including carving, totems, jewels, paintings and prints, there are a number of galleries across town, but the area known as “Gallery Row” in South Granville is particularly good. Hill's Native Art Gallery in Gastown is also popular.
