Language course in Bournemouth: Events 2019

ESL - Events 2019
13th June - 16th June 2019: Isle of Wight Festival
Everyone from Jimi Hendrix to the Prodigy has played the legendary Isle of Wight Festival over the years. After one particularly wild event in 1970, the British government passed "Isle of Wight Act" preventing gatherings of more than 5,000 people on the island without a special licence. The Isle of Wight is easily reached from Bournemouth, via Southampton. (isleofwightfestival.com)

August 2019: Candle Light Festival & fireworks
Tea lights are used to light up pretty displays in the Lower Gardens for visitors to enjoy, creating an enchanted atmosphere. Also during August every Friday night at approximately 10pm there is a firework display near the pier.

1st August – 4th August 2019: Bestival
This music festival on the nearby Isle of Wight is famously good natured and chilled out. Each year there is a different theme and people go to extraordinary lengths to dress up. (bestival.net)

29th August – 1st September 2019: Bournemouth Air Festival
This is a free festival for everyone. During the day and evening there are many different aircrafts which put on displays over the beach, there are the red arrows, Lancaster Air Bombers and helicopter displays among many others. Next to the pier there are aircrafts to explore and stalls where you can speak to people from the Royal Air Force and other organisations. (bournemouthair.co.uk)

September – October 2019 (TBC): Bournemouth Arts by the Sea Festival
Watch the waterfront in Bournemouth transform into a psychedelic celebration of the arts with over 100 installations and performances! There’s a steam punk street market, concerts, light shows and so much more during this week-long festival.

October 2019 (TBC): Festival for the Dead
Loosely inspired by Mexico’s Dia de los muertos, this famous Bournemouth party includes DJs and live music, skull face painting, a light show, acrobats, a parade and even piñatas.

December 2019: Christmas Market
What could be more English than Glühwein and Bratwürst in the winter? Hmmm. A tradition imported from the other side of the English Channel, Christmas Markets are rapidly catching on in the UK and during December there is a Christmas Market in The Square. A great way to spend a chilly evening.
