I booked two weeks in Heidelberg, but in the end I liked it so much that I stayed for three. I stayed with a delightful family, and the mother would take me on Sunday outings, once to a nearby village called Landenburg and another time to some palace gardens. The school was 20-25 minutes from my home and I could go by bus or tram. I met some amazing people and some of the excursions were really great. We even went to Frankfurt.

The classes were highly interactive and the teacher was very cheerful and friendly. Listening to German all day long really allows you to learn a lot.

Heidelberg is a very quiet city but it has some places that are really worth visiting. I loved it. It was one of the best experiences of my life.

I went to Heidelberg for 4 months to improve my German and it was a beautiful experience. First of all, I stayed at the Campus Viva, a student campus located close to the train station. A true paradise for anyone who wishes to bond or enjoy different activities with friends (football, basketball, baby-foot, TV). Furthermore, there were several organized nights, which were very nice and I always shared my meals with other students so I never got lonely. I really appreciated the school, the Collegium Palatinium, a grand old building where it’s very nice to spend time. There is a warm and relaxed atmosphere with qualified teachers and unconventional classrooms. Many activities were organized every week so we could discover the city and its surroundings. Heidelberg is absolutely perfect. The Neckar River with its 2 mountains on each side and a castle on one of them, offers an amazing view. Plus, the old streets full of bars and restaurants will never make you regret choosing Heidelberg.

I spent 6 weeks at IH Collegium Palatinum’s school to improve my German and find a job in German speaking Switzerland. Heidelberg is a historical and student city, which is very rare. I chose Heidelberg before choosing the school because I told myself there would be less French speaking people. And indeed, even if there were a few, it did not prevent me from progressing in German. The programmes are very pleasant, the teachers and the IH Collegium Palatinum’s staff always take time to correct our German and answer our needs. I have met many nice people during the excursions and the German cultural programmes. I will most probably stay in contact with them. The accommodation within a host family is very efficient to make progress in the language but as far as I am concerned, I preferred staying in a residence to have more independence.

I stayed 13 weeks at IH’s Heidelberg - Collegium Palatinum and I really enjoyed it. The courses were good and very interactive. We talked about a lot of different themes and practiced our grammar. Apart from the class book we also had photocopies. Every week, we watched a film and then talked about it. In the course of our cultural program, we visited several cities and museums. There were at least 2 activities a week, organized by an intern and it was pleasant to be in the company of a girl our age! Heidelberg is a beautiful city with many youngsters. It is small but it has a lot to offer for going out at night or for shopping. In my opinion, spending 3 months in Heidelberg was ideal.

Heidelberg is a little town full of charm, I stayed there for a month and that allowed me to improve my German. The Collegium Palatinum is located in a beautiful building. There is a small courtyard where we can enjoy the sun during the breaks. Every week, we could join the activities offered by the school. I visited the Castle of Heidelberg, the Schwetzingen castle and the city of Stuttgart. I also did some climbing. I visited a zoo and a market along Philosophenweg. I enjoyed it a lot. I found the teachers welcoming and close to the students. I met people from various countries and they turned into friends. I loved to walk in the old town. The main street is very lively; there are a lot of small restaurants and bars. I live in a Gastfamilie. I am alone with the mother of my host family and another student. I feel like at home. I recommend the Collegium Palatinum to anyone who wants to both learn German and have fun.

I am studying at the Collegium Palatinum because I need to speak German in order to study at the university. This is what I can say about my experience in this school. First of all, one slight downside: I was living in the “Kirchlein” neighbourhood and it took me 40 minutes to get to the school. It is not a huge problem but it is still a few minutes more than the 30 min mentioned in the web site. But apart from that, the school is beautiful and the classrooms are very spacious. Wi-Fi is available in the entire school and so is free tea! The teachers are very nice and the classes were very interesting. There weren’t too many students and hence, it was easy to get to know each other and make new friends. There were excursions during the week, which is a positive point. In brief: the good points prevail over the bad points, and this is why I highly recommend this school!

I had a great time at the school and I got to know a lot of new cultures and people, including fellow students from Venezuela. My host family was really kind. I had a lot of fun with my host brother and my host sister. We went to the movies together. I was well integrated in the family. At the beginning the course was a bit difficult, because the A2 group was already advanced. But when I achieved level B1, it was much easier. I liked Heidelberg a lot. It is a beautiful student city. Except for the weather, which was not so good. In the three months I spent there, I had very few sunny days. But it was fun to sit in the sun with my host family.

Well, my language study trip was simply wonderful at all levels! The teachers and the school were great, I learnt a lot while being in beautiful surroundings. The family with whom I was staying was really nice and all of its members were friendly, which made me feel comfortable, like at home. Not to mention the new friends I made and the many leisure activities that I would not have missed for anything in the world. Heidelberg is a small, terrific town. It was an incredible month, at the end of which I didn’t want to go back to Italy.

These 4 weeks in Heidelberg went by so quickly. The town is superb, just like the Castle with its breathtaking views, which you discover at the turn of sloping paths. I really enjoyed the fraternal atmosphere of the Collegium Palatinum; I quickly made friends of all nationalities, which greatly increased the effectiveness of the course. It was the second time I went to Germany with ESL (the first time was in Bamberg), so I chose to stay with a host family and I don’t regret it because I learnt a lot about the country thanks to the conversations with my "Gasteltern".
