Located at the north-eastern extremity of the lake which carries its name, Zug extends out amongst the gardens and orchards at the foot of the first wooded buttresses of the Zugerberg. The capital of the canton has a privileged geographic location at the heart of Switzerland, in this way allowing to reach Lucerne in less than 30 minutes and Zürich in less than an hour.
The promenade on the quays offers an unobstructred view of the summits of central Switzerland (Pilate, Bürgenstock, Stanserhorn) and of the Bernese Alps (Jungfrau, Blümlisalp, Finsteraarhorn). Add to this the blue waters of the lake, the green hills which the Rigi dominates and the charm of the old town. So many assets to captivate the traveller. An idyllic and safe setting to learn English between lake and mountains, this charming town is also known for being one the most peaceful towns in Switzerland.
